job opportunities

How Can We Help?
Workshops
To date, we have
hosted several successful workshops conducted by dynamic and experienced
professionals on the topics of job hunting, interviewing, and resume
writing (including one-on-one tutorials), and stress management. We are
planning our next workshops now—please let us know what would be helpful
to you!

See below for the
latest "On-Target Tip" from our recent workshop on finances.
Finding a Job
We regularly post job
listings for members of the group via our Google group online. Most of
these listings are referrals from parishioners so you may already have a
hiring advantage! In addition, we have established a St. Robert’s group
for networking via LinkedIn.
Practical Information
In addition to job
listings, resources from our workshops are available in our Google
online group. These currently include handbooks and tip sheets on job
hunting, resume writing, and interviewing.
Community
Perhaps above all, we form
a community—one that grows out of our larger faith community here at St.
Robert’s. Together we share the ups and downs, the uncertainties and the
opportunities. Please come join us and help us build this community!
Counseling
In need of emotional
support or counseling because of the current economic challenges? We have
connected with local social workers who are willing to see parishioners at
reduced rates. Please email parishioner Sue Coleman, LICSW, at
suec6564@gmail.com for a
confidential discussion and referral to these practitioners.
How Can You Help?
Share Your Skills
Each of us is endowed with
special gifts. Take time to reflect on how your skills can help those around
you in this time of need.
Send Job Listings
Is your company hiring?
How about asking your neighbor or friend if their company is hiring? Please
email the name of the company and the company link to Tom Ciaccia at
cimcjt@gmail.com. We will add these
links to our Job Opportunities page within the Google group for our members to access.
Spread the Word
The group is open to
parishioners and non-parishioners alike. Share our information with your
family, friends, and neighbors!
Share Your Ideas
Let us know what you need
or want, send us ideas about how to connect, brainstorm workshop thoughts.
Be creative! Send us an email at
strobertsnetworking@gmail.com.
Pray
We are all aware of the
power of prayer in our community. Remember those who are struggling in your
prayers, thank God for your blessings, and pray for the strength and wisdom
we all need in difficult times.

ON-TARGET TIP
Straight from the latest workshop of the
St. Robert’s Networking and Resources Group…don’t miss this valuable
information about your home mortgage!
-
If you begin to find
yourself in a position where you can’t pay your mortgage, re-read your
mortgage documents. There is a promissory note that you signed that will
tell you how long you have to cure (fix) the outstanding balance. Also
your mortgage was probably sold to another bank, so look on your most
recent invoice and find the bank and call them and speak to a live
PERSON, and try to make a payment plan.
-
To protect your home,
go to the Massachusetts Registry of Deeds webpage with FAQs about The
Homestead Act [http://www.sec.state.ma.us/rod/rodhom/homidx.htm]
and download the Declaration of Homestead. Fill it out, have it
notarized, and bring it to the Registry of Deeds with $35 and file it.
-
Helpful handout (PDF) on on
Real Estate Foreclosures in Massachusetts from Kevin Murtagh, Esq.,
speaker at the March 24 workshop on foreclosures and bankruptcy.

USCCB website
The
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has developed a new website
in response to the current economic crisis and its moral and human
impacts. This new web site has been developed to better share Catholic
social teaching on economic life and how it can shape the responses of
Catholics to economic crises. For more information, please go to

Useful Tools
COBRA premium reduction: ARRA, the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009, temporarily reduces the premium for COBRA
coverage for eligible individuals. Individuals who are eligible for
COBRA coverage because of involuntary termination from employment from
September 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009 and who elect COBRA, may be
eligible to pay a reduced premium. Eligible individuals pay only 35% of
the full COBRA premiums under their plans for up to 9 months. For more
information, join us in the Google group (see
"How to Participate" above).
