I mentioned a couple of times at the Masses on the Ascension that the first Novena (9 days of prayer) took place in the Upper Room with the 11, Mary, and other disciples awaiting the gift of the Holy Spirit. We join with them in praying one of the three Novena options presented here. I hope you find one of them beneficial and helpful as we prepare to celebrate the gifts of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (May 23).
The first is one that comes from Dan Schutte, one of the St. Louis Jesuits, who had a huge impact on the state of liturgical music in the church following the Second Vatican Council. It can be found here:
