Children in grades K-5 are invited to participate in this celebration during the 10:00 AM Mass (beginning the Sunday after Labor Day continuing until the middle of June). After the opening prayer, the presider sends forth the children with the Liturgical Leader to celebrate Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) downstairs in the designated children’s room.
The Liturgical Leader facilitates the celebration, which includes leading the children in a shared reflection on the readings, and returns with the children to the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Leaders are trained by the Faith Formation Director and after a period of ‘shadowing’ other leaders, are added to the schedule. Leaders are assigned about once every six weeks. They prepare to lead the CLOW using material provided by the Faith Formation Director. Leaders must be CORId and must complete the Protecting God’s Children Training.
This is a great opportunity to share your faith with young children, to grow in your own understanding of and appreciation for the Word of God and the celebration of the Eucharist, and to enrich children’s experience of the celebration of the Mass—besides, the kids are great! If you’re interested, join us one Sunday to get a sense of what’s involved or contact the Parish Office to inquire.
