This month we talk to parishioner Phil Giguere. You may know him as one of the leaders of the Youth Group, or maybe you’ve seen him during our pastoral planning meetings in his role on the Parish Pastoral Council, or perhaps you recognize him as an occasional lector. Phew! And that’s just part of his story. Wonder what makes this guy dive in this way? We did too!
Five parishes, three states, two countries and at least half a dozen different ministries—and that's just the backstory (video part one). Add a few more ministries and adventures and you'd think it might begin to get a little hectic, but instead it is inspiring to see how naturally it all becomes part of the rhythm, part of the fabric of faith life (video part two). In closing we wonder if what you get out of involvement is more than what you give (part three).
Sometimes we can take the perspective that ministry involvement is for someone else, not for us. Even the word "ministry" can seem foreign and a little unapproachable. But it's really quite simple. Our faith community is a family and, like any family, we can all find ways to get involved, to grow, and to find and share our gifts. It will take just about 15 minutes to listen to Phil's story and hopefully shed some light on how easy and rewarding this can be. As Phil says, "Don't be afraid...just jump in and do it!" Take a look—you'll be glad you did!
